Off to College???
I will never forget dropping off Caleb at EIU 8 years ago. I was so excited for him and so nervous for him I couldn't stand it. I remember driving away watching him through my tears in the rear view mirror and I swear my heart physically hurt. The years went so fast...how could we be here already?? Somehow I got through that and then 2 more kids leaving for their big adventure. Every drop off came with a flood of tears. After about a week a new normal took over and we all knew all was going to be ok. Us moms worry...it's just what we do. i can't even tell you how many times over the years one of them called me and were sick.....wait I have a point to this story...and a purpose...lol! Fast forward to the first 'sick call" I always felt the same...like I was going to get in my car and go make it all better!! I spent SO much time saying the same thing...what are you eating? how much sleep are you getting? who's sick around you?? I'm sure I only got half the story...lol...but I did get wiser over time.
After alot of sleepless nights I got smart...I started sending them with the tools they needed to stay healthy instead of running to the rescue and panicking AFTER they were already sick. If you ever are in need of some suggestions stop in!
Post-Gel Rehab Plan
I admit it. I did it. I love the look of beautifully manicured nails. I am like every other woman out there who gets frustrated when the polish chips after the first day. I have always admired the no-chips on others & finally convinced myself that it was a great idea. I knew going in the health risks....yet I still went in. Right before Christmas I had my first no-chip. I loved it! January came my nails were still looking good and they felt incredibly strong. Once they started growing out I knew I had to get it taken off. I went to a reputable popular place...they started by soaking my nails in acetone then proceeded to take a small drill and an orange stick to remove the rest of my polish. Again...I KNEW this wasn't good...but it was so convenient and so pretty! I had her reapply...yes using UV lights...saying to myself this would be the last time. Until 3 weeks later when I DID IT AGAIN! BTW...this IS the definition of insanity. Needless to say last week I went & had it taken off. I left with plain old polish. Next day I cleaned the kitchen and the chipping began. Frustrated I took it off. My once strong, healthy nail started peeling off with it. It has been a week and they actually hurt they are so damaged. They bend like crazy and are ripping off like there is no tomorrow.
This may seem silly to some of you....but to me...really I know better!
After some initial research refreshing my brain about the UV damage & the acetone...I read about how after just one time of having no-chip a recent study claimed the nail is thinned by 50%. REBUILD time, reboot time. I certainly do not need to up my risk of cancer for pretty nails!
So here we go...REHAB time for my nails. Nails need protein, nutrition & hydration. That makes sense...protein, food, water...check. I am naturally taking my Super Trio but I am adding in a hair, skin & nail formula HSN contains 2 of the richest sources of organic silicon in the planet kingdom: horsetail & dulse. Silica is an element that works with calcium to improve strength and flexibility of structural components of the body. Silica is is a nutrient that helps prevent fingernails from cracking, hair from splitting and bones from becoming brittle. Boom....2 caps 3 times a day for me! I am also going to start soaking my nails in warm milk with vitamin E and keep them hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Lesson learned for me. I will still admire pretty polished nails on other women...but as for me...I'm going to pass :)
Stop Breathing on Me!
As most of you know I have been traveling lately introducing and training coaches to the awesome IN.FORM. I LOVE it! I love meeting new people and I love teaching. I am so blessed to be able to share my passion for natural health!! The only hiccup is the plane......we ALL know that feeling of dread when the guy next to you is coughing and blowing his nose the entire flight!! 90% of the time Silver Shield sprayed on and around me as well as a few good doses of Elderberry does the trick.....but every once in awhile I pick up a little somethin-somethin! Sad to say after my Boston flight I felt that awful scratchy throat yesterday. I went into the shop a little crabby and very tired. Immediately I started CC-A, Elderberry and Silver Shield...ALL DAY every couple hours. WALA...today I feel great!! Really can't yell 'stop breathing on me!" but I can take it down when it hits!! Here's to movin on!!

Healthy Mama, Healthy Baby
I know from personal experience, that when I decide to go healthy, so do my kids. Now whether they actually decide that or if I force it upon them is questionable, but what I do know is that when we are healthy, we are happy. So when I originally opened the shop, I made sure to carry products suitable for the whole family. More recently, however, I decided to expand on our mom/baby line, specifically. Our new products just came in for this line. We now have USDA certified organic mama and baby essentials that are all handmade in the USA. Some of the baby products include gentle soap, moisture oil, aroma rub, and barrier balm. As for moms, we have moisture oil, body polish, and prenatal vitamins. The family health does not stop at babies here! We also carry the best of the best when it comes to kids multivitamins, calcium supplements, immune boosters, and so much more.
So as summer comes to an end, come on in and get the whole family as healthy as possible before the fall. A strong immune system will protect your kids from all the germs that school and the weather bring. You can also check out some of our other family friendly products like oil diffusers and protein powder that kids of all ages will love!
Helpful Oil for Women
I have really been into the Essential Oil world lately as Nature's Sunshine just came out with their line of Oil blends. There is a certain blend in particular that is awesome! It is the Changes blend which is a combination of Clary Sage, Pine needle, Orange, Ho Leaf, Peppermint, Ylang, and Chamomile. This combination of oils smells awesome and was made to help with PMS/ menopause symptoms!
Men's Summer Class
As summer has just begun, I have been extremely excited about some of our upcoming events! I have to say, one of the best classes coming up will be the new Men's IN.FORM. As an IN.FORM guru, I like to have company at my trainings, so I usually drag along my husband, Jude. After a while, however, Jude started getting pretty excited about the program and has become a certified Health Coach. He is loving these programs! In fact, we have decided that he will be the coach of our new launch program for Men.
I know what you're thinking: There is no way my husband would sit for an hour class chatting with other guys!
Well, Jude and I thought of a great solution! The classes will only be a half an hour one day a week. They come in, get weighed, receive a few tips, grab a smoothie and go. The classes are also early in the morning or at the end of the work day. It isn't a huge commitment (Because we both know how men can be lol). Anyway, my husband will be there, so encourage yours to go to! Not only will it benefit him by lowering his cholesterol, reducing blood sugar, and reducing visceral fat, but it will help you too! When my husband's on track, so am I! Two is always better than one, so partner up and get healthy!
Why do I blog?
After being advised to start a blog, I pushed back because of lack of time. Like you, I have a myriad of other important commitments and really.. who reads them.
But, I was told to start a blog to connect to my readers. I will use this platform to inspire, motivate and inform you.
Please, check back and read my blog.
